Auspicious Days Finder for Weddings, Openings and Moves
Choose an activity, a month and, if you like, the birth year of the person it is for. Every day is scored out of 10 using the Vietnamese almanac, and the reasons are spelled out for each criterion.

How each day is scored
Choosing a good day (xem ngày tốt) is one of the most widespread customs in Vietnam. Rather than give a bare “good” or “bad”, this tool scores up to six criteria, each worth up to 3 points, and converts the total to a score out of 10:
- Yellow or Black Path. Yellow Path days, ruled by one of six benevolent spirits, earn full marks.
- Day officer. Each of the twelve officers suits some activities and not others. Success and Open suit most occasions; Destruction suits almost none.
- Lunar mansion. Fourteen of the 28 mansions count as auspicious.
- Taboo days. Tam Nương, Nguyệt Kỵ and Dương Công Kỵ days lose these points.
- Day versus your animal (with a birth year). A day whose branch clashes with yours scores zero; a harmonious one scores full marks.
- Day element versus your element (with a birth year). The day’s nạp âm element should nourish, not control, yours.
Any day with a taboo — an officer that conflicts with the activity, a folk taboo day or a clash with your animal — is capped below 5/10, however well it does elsewhere. Days of 8 and above are rated excellent, 6.5 and above good.

Frequently asked questions
Whose birth year should I use for a wedding date?
Traditionally the bride’s and groom’s years are both checked, and a day that clashes with either is avoided. Run the tool once with each birth year and pick a day that scores well for both. Many families give the bride’s year priority.
Is every Yellow Path day a good day?
No. A Yellow Path day can still fall on a Destruction officer or a Tam Nương taboo day, which tradition avoids for major events. That is why we score several criteria together and cap any day with a taboo below 5/10.
What time should the event start?
Choose one of the six auspicious hours of the chosen day. They are listed under each day’s breakdown, for example “Dragon 07:00–09:00”.
Does the day need to suit my element?
It helps but is not decisive. When you enter a birth year, the tool compares the day’s nạp âm element with yours: a day whose element nourishes yours gets full marks, one that controls yours gets none.
Can I use this outside Vietnam?
Yes. The almanac is calculated for Vietnam time (UTC+7), which is how Vietnamese families abroad usually choose dates. The days themselves do not change with your location.
